Hands-On Activity: Learn to Watercolor

Learn basic watercolor skills with artist Marcia Eames-Sheavly of Cornell’s School of Integrative Plant Science, in conjunction with the exhibition Past Time: Geology in European and American Art.

Many people shy away from watercolor painting because they fear that it is too difficult. Watercolor painting can be challenging at first, but it is easy and inexpensive to get started: All you need are paint, water, and a brush.

Watercolor is a versatile medium that was around before the invention of watercolor sets in the 18th century or the influence of the English school that helped popularize the craft in continental Europe. With just a few simple art supplies and techniques, you’ll be on your way to creating stunning watercolor paintings akin to Paul Cézanne in no time.

The cost is $10 for LLH members who are not also members of the Johnson. Those who are members of the Johnson may take this for free.

Join us for this fascinating afternoon and see how much you can master.
