Failed Conspiracies

People sometimes plan conspiracies to change their world. At our August meeting, the History group will discuss four failed conspiracies:

 1. The Peasants' Rebellion of 1381 (Wat Tyler)

 2. The Gunpowder Plot of 1605 (Guy Fawkes)

 3. John Brown's Raid at Harper's Ferry, 1859

 4. The Bay of Pigs, 1961

Or perhaps your favorites instead !

What did the conspiracists hope to achieve? Why did they fail? Did their causes still advance or were they set back? Are there common threads, or did the world just change too much over the centuries for
comparison to be meaningful?
